About National Testing Agency (NTA): 

NTA is an independent, autonomous, and self-sustained testing organization established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It conducts efficient, transparent, and international standardized tests for admission to premier higher education institutions. It also undertakes research, dissemination, and capacity building in the field of assessment.

About Central Universities: 

Central Universities or Union Universities are established by an Act of Parliament and are under the purview of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education. They offer various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in different disciplines. They follow the reservation policy of the Government of India and have their own specific requirements for admission.

About CUET (UG) - 2024: 

CUET (UG) is the Common University Entrance Test for admission into all undergraduate programmes in any of the Central Universities (CUs) or other participating organizations (including state universities, deemed universities, and private universities) across the country for the academic session 2024-25. It is a computer-based test conducted in 13 languages across India. It provides a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates from different backgrounds and regions.

Role of NTA: 

NTA is responsible for the registration of candidates, conduct of the test, hosting of answer key, inviting challenges, finalizing answer keys, preparing and declaring result, and hosting score card for CUET (UG) - 2024. NTA does not deal with the admission process, which is handled by the respective universities based on the score card provided by NTA.

Examination Scheme Overview:

  • Cities: Offered in 380 cities, including 26 cities outside India.
  • Subjects/Tests Offered: 61 in total, comprising 33 languages and 27 subjects.
  • Choice and Flexibility: Candidates may choose any subject/language as desired by the applicable university/organization.
  • Question Attempt Structure:
  • For Languages: Candidates must attempt 40 questions out of 50.
  • General Test: Candidates must attempt 50 questions out of 60.

  • Maximum Subjects: Candidates can choose up to six subjects from all three sections.
  • Question Choices: For all test papers, an overall choice of 10 questions is provided out of the set (40 out of 50 for subjects and 50 out of 60 for the General Test).
  • Advised Selection: It's recommended for candidates to select at least one language and the General Test.
  • Duration Variance: The duration for all test papers is 45 minutes, except for specific subjects (Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, and General Tests), which will be 60 minutes.
  • Multiple Days and Shifts: The examination will be conducted over multiple days in two or three shifts, depending on the number of candidates and their subject choices.

Examination Scheme: 

The examination scheme of CUET (UG) - 2024 consists of the following aspects:

  • Mode of Examination: The test will be conducted in computer-based mode only.
  • Medium of Examination: The test will be conducted in 13 languages, namely English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The candidates can choose the language of the question paper while filling the online application form.
  1. Application Mode: Candidates must apply for CUET (UG) - 2024 through the "Online" mode only. Applications can be submitted on the website https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/. No applications in any other mode will be accepted.
  2. Single Application Requirement: Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. Filling more than one Application Form is strictly prohibited. Strict actions will be taken against candidates who submit multiple applications, even if discovered at a later stage.
  3. Adherence to Instructions: Candidates must strictly follow the instructions provided in the Information Bulletin and on the CUET (UG) website. Failure to comply with these instructions will lead to disqualification.
