 About CG RHEO Exam

Unit 2: General Agriculture & Horticulture (10 Marks)

  • General Scenario of Agriculture & Horticulture in India & Chhattisgarh: Production and productivity of important horticulture & agriculture crops in India & Chhattisgarh. Name of ICAR institutions for Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agricultural Engineering, their abbreviations, and locations. Name of state Agriculture & Horticulture Universities and their locations.

Unit 2: Post Harvest Technology (20 Marks)

  • Principles of fruit & vegetable preservation, processing, value addition, and post-harvest management of horticultural crops (fruits, vegetables, flower crops).
  • Crop drying: basic concepts, types, terminology, dryers - types and working, cleaning and grading of fruits, vegetables, and suitable equipment.
  • Storage of agricultural and horticultural crops, storage structures.

Unit 3: Protected Horticulture (25 Marks)

  • Protected cultivation of horticultural crops and their management.
  • Greenhouse application: types, design criteria, equipment, and systems for greenhouse.

Unit 4: Soil and Irrigation Management (25 Marks)

  • Soils and their types, the role of soil analysis in crop production.
  • Surveying: types, methods, and procedures, equipment.
  • Soil erosion types and control measures.
  • Methods of irrigation and drainage in crop production.
  • Irrigation management, weed management, fertility management in horticulture crops.
  • Irrigation: basic concepts, methods, water lifting devices, irrigation-water measurement methods, and instruments.

Unit 5: Crop Improvement (30 Marks)

  • Role of biotechnology and tissue culture in crop improvement.
  • Plant breeding and its role in agriculture, hybridization, and selection in crop plants, use of male sterility and self-incompatibility in crop improvement programs. Use of transgenic technology in agriculture.
  • Breeding of fruits, vegetables, tubers, spices, and condiments, and flower crops with the use of biotechnology in improving horticultural crops.
  • Seed production of vegetables, tubers, spices, and flower crops.

Unit 6: Crop Protection (25 Marks)

  • Importance of pathogenic organisms, types of plant diseases, their management, and methods of fungicide application.
  • Integrated pest management in major insect pests of field crops such as cereals, pulses, and oilseed crops.
  • Weed management in economically important field crops, including integrated approaches to weed management in crops.
  • Insect pest management and IPM practices in horticultural crops, as well as disease management and physiological disorders in horticultural crops.
  • Utilization, repair, and maintenance of intercultural and plant protection equipment.

Unit 7: Field and Horticultural Crop Production (30 Marks)

  • Scope and importance of agriculture, elements of crop production, and the crop revolution in India.
  • Scope and importance of agronomy, crop classification, nutrient management, and cropping systems.
  • Agro-techniques for the production of Kharif and Rabi crops.
  • Importance of horticultural crops, including their classification, area, and production. Nursery management and propagation of horticultural crops. Planning, layout, and management of orchards. Systems of planting, types of vegetable farming, types, and styles of gardens, landscaping, trimming, and pruning. Use of growth regulators in horticultural crops.
  • Cropping systems, intercropping, multi-tier cropping, peri-urban horticulture, agroforestry systems, fruitfulness, and unfruitfulness. Rejuvenation of old orchards. Production technology of fruits, vegetables, tubers, spices & condiments, and ornamental & flower crops. Mulching and staking.
  • Apiculture, Lac culture, sericulture, and mushroom culture.

Unit 8: Agricultural Engineering (25 Marks)

  • Farm power sources. I.C. Engines: types, working principle, constructional details, engine terminology, different systems of I.C. Engines.
  • Tractors: types, selection, cost calculation, different systems, Power tiller, and its attachments.
  • Tillage: concept, types, tillage implements, constructional details, machines and implements for sowing, planting, transplanting, harvesting, threshing, and land development equipment.
  • Electric motors: types, construction, and performance comparison.

Unit 9: Renewable Energy Sources(10 Marks)

  • Basic energy concepts, energy sources, classification, solar energy, energy from biomass, wind energy, biofuel, and other non-renewable energy sources. Different types of equipment and gadgets of nonconventional energy, their types, working, etc.
